Hasbro attempted to trademark "Hyper Furries" in 2004
The trademark application was abandoned in 2005. I guess they thought better of it, though I have to wonder if they looked it up first.

Even better, someone actually registered intent to use "yiff" in relation to domain name services.

We'll know by next March if the Yiff trademark goes through. It's a long and annoying and (expensive) process.
